Managing your fabric stash before it consumes you!
Tuesday, October 10 at 6:30pm
Our own Sue Michaels of Dragonfly Fiberart presents this month's program"Leaders, Enders and Scrap Quilts"
Do you have piles of fabric ready to avalanche? Have you reached into your stash for that perfect color of fabric and opened it to find chunks have already been used? Do you have that bin (or two) full of worthy scraps that you really want to use someday?
As quilters, we love our fabric and we all have a stash, some more sizeable than others. We are also frugal and hate to throw away even the smallest of pieces. Through images, words and samples Dragonfly Fiberart will take you on a journey through ways to store and manage your stash, cutting leftovers and scraps into usable pieces, planned and serendipity scrap quilting and scrap quilt inspiration. We will discuss how to cut, organize evaluate and categorize our stash to turn it into beautiful quilts and objects for everyday use. Stash busting is the art of finding a purpose for all the fabric you buy. It could be UFO’s that no longer interest you, orphan blocks, that OMG fabric that is so ugly you can hardly believe you bought it or kits that have had their coordinating fabrics raided for more worthy projects. It all has a future! Let’s travel together to explore the many pathways that your stash can take you down and light the way to a fun and productive scrap quilting!
