UFO Auction
The Seabreeze Quilt Guild Annual UFO program is celebrated at our March Meeting. Now is a great time to start looking around your sewing space and create a bundle of packaged items for other members to bid on!
Overview of the Annual UFO Auction:
Each member who chooses to, creates her own collection of things to donate, typically from her stash/sewing space.
Fabric, notions, tools, books, patterns, partially finished projects all make great offerings.
Group items together as attractive packages for your individual contribution to the auction.
The details:
You can creatively make a list of the contents or let your packaging display the contents.
Gather your items and package them either in a fabric ribbon, a basket, some cellophane ..., however you like!
Put your name on it (because if it doesn't get bid on, it goes back home with you)
Each package becomes an item for the silent auction.
You use your assigned number to make your best bid.
You can audit the list and bid multiple times.
Highest bid listed at the end of the bidding time wins the package.
We'll need a few volunteers to help as Runners and organizers for the evening.
Please jump in to make this a fun and efficient evening!
FAQs:
Who gets the money?
A portion of the proceeds goes to the New England Quilt Museum.
Can you make more than one auction package/ item?
YES!
There is no limit on the number of packages you can bring.
Be sure each is inviting so it will receive bids and not have to return home with you.
Will there be a LIVE Auction for bigger items such as Quilts and Finished Quilt Blocks in March?
NO!
The Live Auction will take place during a different month. More on that in an upcoming month.
Do you have to bring an item for the auction?
NO!
Bringing your checkbook and bidding is as important as bringing an item for the auction!

Challenge Quilts
Challenge Quilts will be revealed, celebrated and voted on during our April meeting.
The UFO Auction is such a busy evening that the Challenge Quilt Reveal has been postponed another month.
The delay will allow more time at the meeting to take a good look and really appreciate the talent involved.
Plus.... if you have postponed finishing your challenge, you now have an extended deadline!

What's a Challenge Quilt?
Typically, every other year (the years that we host a Quilt Show), the guild offers members an optional Seabreeze Challenge Quilt opportunity.
The Chair of the program (Chris Randall for this year) chooses a theme, rules and fabrics for participants. Even though our guild is not hosting a Quilt Show this year, we've decided to go ahead with our Challenge Quilt as a way for us to enjoy the camaraderie of a guild related contest and celebrating it among the guild, because, yay!
Sooo, who is involved? In August, Chris took names of people who were interested in the Challenge (yes, it's before we see the fabric or know the rules, which is part of the FUN!), and she purchased fabric. In this case, [five] 1/4-yard cuts of fabric, for which we paid $15 to participate. Members received their packets of fabric and the Rules for this challenge. Everyone who attends the February meeting will be able to Vote on 5 different categories of the quilts and there are Fabulous awards! It's a guild wide celebration!
