Lynne Tyler learned to sew in fifth grade and made her first quilt in college. Lynne is a former state-juried member of both the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen and the New Hampshire Artists Association, where she won numerous awards. She taught Drawing and Oil Painting at the Manchester Institute of Arts and Sciences for 10 years. Trained as an artist, Lynne loves working with abstract shapes and color.
She loves strip piecing and the graphic quality of quilts. Lynne makes art quilts and is an active member of the online quilt blogging community. Her blog, The Patchery Menagerie, can be found at http://patcherymenagerie.blogspot.com. Lynne has been making free-pieced quilts for over 15 years. Lynne has taught at Quilted Threads in Henniker NH since 2010, and lectures in the area. In 2013 she was the keynote speaker at Quintessential Quilts in St. Louis MO. Lynne writes and sells tutorials for Free Pieced Birds, Liberated Letters, Butterflies, Scrap Slab Triangle Quilts and others on Etsy. Her original quilts are featured in several books: Letters From Home is featured in Tonya Ricucci’s book, Word Play Quilts and The Four Seasons and several others are featured in Julie Sefton’s Build-a-Barn.
Lynne’s original quilts have been exhibited in American Quilting Society shows in Des Moines IA, Chattanooga TN, Paducah KY, Syracuse NY, Lancaster KY, Daytona Beach FL, Grand Rapids MI, Albuquerque NM, and Phoenix AZ.
